Digvijaya backs Sibal on screening online content

Congress general secretary Digvijaya Singh on Tuesday came to the rescue of Telecom and Information Technology Minister Kapil Sibal whose demand to Internet firms to screen alleged offensive content and regulate online content to meet Indian standards kicked off a controversy on Monday. Congress general secretary today sought to defend Sibal’s stand and suggested that Internet companies should have a self-regulation mechanism to check against offensive contents that seek to malign the image of anyone.
