UP: Infighting 'castes' shadow on BJP, Cong

Chief minister Mayawati's allegations made during her Brahmin Rally in Lucknow on November 14 that Congress and Bharatiya Janata Party would make a thakur as chief minister if voted to power in UP was not completely out of place. She may not be 100% correct but her statement highlighted the internal bickering in the two national parties. Though the BJP and the Congress have not announced their chief ministerial candidates and claim they will contest the assembly elections under the collective leadership of the state and national leaders, a keen contest among leaders vying for the top slot is visible in both the parties.
