Pranab's role in 25 note 2G still open

"Apart from the factual background, the paper contains certain inferences and interpretations which do not reflect my views", finance minister Pranab Mukherjee said on September 29 outside North Block on the contentious March 25, 2011 note on 2G events that kicked up a political storm. The statement was intended to end discord over the note's suggestion that as finance minister in UPA-1, Chidambaram could have insisted on tainted 2G licences being scrapped. Central to the "all is well" show was Mukherjee distancing himself from the suggestion that he had approved its contents.
