Telangana under siege

Telangana is virtually under siege. An indefinite strike had been called by the Telangana Joint Action Committee on September 13. But since it failed to draw an adequate response from the authorities and, perhaps more crucially, the national media, there has been a sharp escalation of the agitation over the past few days. Work has been stopped in every sector — education, transport, sanitation, power — that is government-run, and now private operators too seem to have joined in.
