Can't commute death sentence: Jaya

Appeals from various quarters to Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa to get the death sentence against three convicts in the Rajiv Gandhi assassination case has forced the latter to make a suo motu statement under Rule 110 in the Assembly on Monday, that she did not have the powers to commute the death sentence of the three convicts, especially after the President of India had rejected their plea.
