Anna & company hijacked NAC's lokpal idea: Jairam

Congress tried to put Rahul Gandhi's authorship on the Lokpal Bill, expressing its resolve to enact a strong ombudsman with constitutional status as its final objective. Rahul had demanded constitutional status for Lokpal, in a belated bid to extricate the party which was painted as the villain by Anna Hazare's agitation. It was expected that the elevated status for the body would bolster its credentials.
