US slaps sanctions on LeT-linked group

The United States has slapped sanctions on three senior members of Jemaah Islamiya, a Southeast Asia-based terror group with links to Al Qaeda and Lashkar-e-Tayyeba. The three men subjected to sanctions are Umar Patek, Abdul Rahim Ba’asvir and Muhammad Jibril Abdul Rahman. Of the three, Abdul Rahim has been involved in JI’s outreach to LeT, according to the US Department of Treasury.
