At 9.54pm on the evening of what promised to be his second term, Nitin Gadkari's world was turned upside down when Rajnath Singh emerged as the compromise candidate for the party president's post. Three years ago, the BJP MP from Ghaziabad was forced to step down from the post to make way for Gadkari.
