Modi's bull's eye: Neo-middle class

Pundits say targeting the so-called 'neo-middle class' was Narendra Modi's key game plan to take on the vote base of the aam aadmi, a term rather overused in recent years by Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi to pull in votes of beneficiaries of the Centre's welfare schemes. And it seems to have paid off. Unlike the aam aadmi, the neomiddle class isn't interested in lollies doled out by the government. They are the first-generation beneficiaries of liberalisation who are above the poverty line but below the middle class.
