Is Congress ready for Reddy?

Novelist Upamanyu Chatterjee’s debut novel English, August is a no-holds barred account of an IAS probationer’s sojourn into an interior district of Andhra Pradesh, named Mandanapalli. Many may consider the western district of Kadappa as a kind of a prototype on which descriptions of Mandanapalli were modelled. They would have been better served had they watched some old Westerns to know what life in Kadappa was really like, and why Jaganmohan Reddy has tread the path that he has.
