Judge Kamini Lau has done great service by raising pertinent questions about the problems in hiking the age of consent for engaging in sexual relations from 16 to 18. No matter how many restrictions society imposes on premarital sex, teenagers everywhere in the world tend to become sexually active - either openly or surreptitiously. For example, among most tribal communities, there is no comparable stigma on premarital pregnancy. Whoever the woman names as her impregnator has to accept responsibility of fatherhood.
