Pak shaken by the PM's gambit

On January 9, the prime minister, Yusuf Raza Gillani, accused the army chief, General Ashfaq Kayani, and DG-ISI, Ahmed Shuja Pasha, of acting "unconstitutionally and illegally" in the Memogate affair. The following day, the Supreme Court handed down a six-point "do-or-die" ultimatum to the government. The day after, Jan 11, Gen Kayani and Gen Pasha warned that the PM's allegations against them could have "serious ramifications with potentially grievous consequences for the country".
