Congress’s new mantra: Divide and sink

Rather than saving the sinking Manmohan Singh government, the Congress leadership is stoking infighting in it. The idea is to prevent the emergence of any one powerful cabinet minister who can willy-nilly challenge Rahul Gandhi’s scripted future takeover. That this divide-and-rule tactic could boomerang and grievously hurt the Congress’s chance of re-election in 2014 is scarcely being considered.
