Growth wins votes

The decade between 2001 and 2011 was a watershed for India. Growth in urban population's absolute numbers exceeded that of rural population. Many areas under rural administration acquired distinct urban characteristics such as non-farm work providing livelihood to a majority of male workers. This implies that policies which slow down economy`s growth, rather than the monsoon, will have a greater impact on the fortune of most Indians.
