DMK: Party as family firm

The latest turn in the DMK’s succession battle is particularly cringeworthy. Having called out his elder son M.K. Alagiri for violating party discipline this month, DMK patriarch M. Karunanidhi appears to be making a last-ditch effort to smooth the eventual takeover of the party leadership by his younger son and chosen heir, M.K. Stalin.
