Even as Congress MPs are pushing for lower electricity rates in Mumbai, officials from the Maharashtra Power department have raised serious concerns about the impact of the move, highly placed sources told The Hindu. Officials say cutting tariffs in the city by 20 per cent in keeping with rest of the State, will result in a subsidy burden of around Rs.1.500 crore on the government.
