Truth is the best defence

The only occasion I have seen Shashi Tharoor was at a Madras Book Club meeting many years ago. If I remember right, he was late for the meeting. He was not to fault, because he was held up in traffic. He was profusely apologetic, and later went on to charm the audience with his customary remarks.
