AAP and the politics of urbanisation
At least officially, India is one of the less urbanised countries around the world. According to the 2011 Census, some 324 million people or 28 per cent of the population are classified as urban, in the sense that they live in statutory towns or urban agglomerations that are governed and administered as non-rural. In contrast, China, Indonesia, for example, have an estimated urban population of 52 per cent and 51 per cent respectively.
