Hope is not a foreign policy

The year 2014 marks the centennial of World War I. The rise of China is akin to that of Germany then, militarising at a pace unjustified by any existential threat. The perceived retreat and relative decline of the US and readjustment of its international posture, after material and psychological exhaustion due to non-stop warring for 12 years, adds to the uncertainty about the future of the existing post-World War II security, financial and commercial structures.
