Reforming the food management system
Major Congress-ruled states will do away with middlemen in the sale of fruits and vegetables to tame prices and check hoarding. The reform, though seen as an attempt to woo back voters after runaway inflation caused the Congress' debacle in the recent polls, is welcome. Other non-Congress-ruled states, including Delhi, should also delist vegetables and fruits from the Agriculture Produce Marketing Committee (APMC) Act.
