Rupee push: FIIs can pick up govt securities at will
In a bid to attract foreign currency into the country to prop up the rupee, market regulator Sebi on Friday relaxed norms for overseas investors in the debt category of the market. Under the new norms, FIIs will be allowed to buy government securities directly from the market, rather than from the monthly auction conducted by the regulator to allocate these papers.
