Rupee Rampage

Twenty-two-year-old History and Political Science graduate Anand Katakam was packing his bags for New York. The Bangalore boy had been accepted to Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism. Everything was pitch-perfect, until the rupee shocker hit. Anand had worked out his finances for the year-long course at Rs 54/$ exchange rate, which was what the rupee was at in mid-March, when he received the acceptance letter.
