Tatas, Birlas, Ambani eye bank licence

Big names of corporate India, including Tatas, Birlas, Reliance (ADAG), Bajaj and L&T, are among the 26 companies which have sought a banking licence creating what might be RBI governor D Subbarao's successor's biggest dilemma. The central bank faces the tough job of selecting a handful of candidates who it feels is best placed to run a bank.
