Modi takes on plan panel
Ahead of the 2014 general elections in which BJP is set to pitch the "Gujarat model" as a major theme, chief minister Narendra Modi took on the Planning Commission for seeking to knock the state on its social sector record. Modi criticized the UPA government for adopting a "big brother" attitude towards states while referring to Centre's repeated efforts to set up National Counter Terror Centre (NCTC) at a Planning Commission meeting that finalized a plan size of Rs 59,000 crore for 2013-14 for the state, 15.7% higher than the plan for the last fiscal.
