GST likely to be collateral damage in JD(U)-BJP split

With the Janata Dal (United) breaking away from the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA), the biggest fallout in the economic space will be a delay in the talks to formalise the complex goods and services tax (GST) regime, industry feels. The empowered committee of state finance ministers will now have to look for another chairman to pursue the implementation of the new indirect tax regime as the current chairman, BJP leader and deputy chief minister of Bihar Sushil Modi, will step down from the post on Monday.
