The coming death of voice

It is both premature and imprecise to pronounce the death of voice calls. Voice is soon going to be eclipsed as a source of telecom revenue by data, true enough: over the last five years, the share of data has risen from 20% to 40% globally. It is not that people will stop making calls: rather, voice gets repositioned as just another functionality of data.
