Inflation dips to 7.45% in Oct on sharp decline in food prices

Headline inflation, based on the annual Wholesale Price Index (WPI), eased marginally in October, helped by a sharp decline in price levels in case of food items such as rice, pulses and fruits. Fuel, which carries a 15 per cent weight in the overall index, too moderated in October — the first set of monthly inflation numbers coming after the government hiked diesel price by over 13 per cent and capped the number of subsidised domestic liquefied petroleum gas cylinders per household on September 13.
