BJP says no to Congressman as President

The BJP has said a firm no to backing any Congressman for the post of President and said it could support someone of ‘high stature’ like APJ Abdul Kalam if there was consensus within the Opposition on his name and if he agreed to contest. The party said it had received ‘feelers’ from the Samajwadi Party in favour of Kalam, but there had been no formal proposal so far.
