In a major volte-face that might seal the case of the killing of two Indian fishermen in gunfire from Italian oil tanker, the prime witness has retracted the testimony on which the prosecution’s case rested. Freddy J, the owner of the boat on which the fishermen were killed, now refuses to confirm if he had seen the killer bullets coming from the Italian ship, after accepting Rs17 lakh as compensation from Italy.
