The drafting of the Lokpal bill has started to take on the contours of a reality show involving two sides challenging each other’s moves and motives. It is, in reality, a contest with ancient origins: the people versus their rulers. As the entire country keeps score with greater intensity than for the IPL, each day’s winners are adjudged.
