Budget session: Support deficit haunts Congress

When the dates of the Budget Session were first announced, Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee was advised by a fellow parliamentarian that the presentation of the Annual Budget should be deferred by an hour. This, apparently, would help avoid the influence of an evil constellation on the UPA’s financial projections for 2012-13. Two weeks ago this was a joke, but today the Congress floor managers, Cabinet heavyweights included, are not even trying to deny that the entire Budget session may be under spell of the ‘Rahu Kalam’.
