The slogan was - Khanduri hai jaruri (the state needs Khanduri). It worked for the BJP in the state, but didn't help the man himself.  The peculiar situation in Uttarakhand, where the BJP campaign hinged on B C Khanduri who was brought in six months ago as the chief minister, has intrigued the party central leadership that sees possible sabotage as a reason for the embarrassing reverse.
