Post-ruling, Sibal retracts on 2G zero-loss theory

The UPA government on Thursday tried to put up a brave face after the Supreme Court cancelled the 2G spectrum licences issued in 2008 en masse. Telecom minister Kapil Sibal, who was designated to speak for the government, sought to put the blame at the doorstep of the previous NDA regime and even the telecom regulator, but asserted that “neither the Prime Minister nor the then finance minister (P Chidambaram) was in any way responsible” for arbitrary disbursal of the spectrum.
