Pawar signals generational shift

In an interview to television channel CNN-IBN, Sharad Pawar, the National Congress Party (NCP) chief, said he would retire from active politics and instead work to install the younger generation. “I don’t want to contest the next Lok Sabha elections. This year I complete 45 years—without a single day’s break —in politics. I have been working from 1967 till today and, continuously, I’m getting elected. It’s my responsibility to encourage the younger generation.”
