The Batla House encounter ghost, which the Congress attempted to resurrect to play to the minority gallery ahead of the UP Assembly polls, has come to haunt the party itself. Having tied itself in knots over the issue, the Congress now finds itself in the line of fire from the Opposition. The Samajwadi Party, which also eyes the Muslim votes on Saturday, dared the ruling party for a judicial probe into the shootout, a demand already rejected by the Congress-led UPA Government at the Centre.
