Opposition forces government to defer Judicial Accountability Bill
The winter session of Parliament ended on a cold note in the Lok Sabha where yet another legislation - Judicial Standards and Accountability Bill, which was part of a bunch of anti-graft legislations - was put on the backburner. The government took the bill off its agenda on Thursday after the BJP made it clear that it would vote against the constitutional amendment seeking to raise the retirement age of high court judges from 62 to 65 years, which was clubbed along with the bill.
