OBC reservation carved to ease in 4.5% minorities

On a day when the Government came under attack for including reservation for minorities in the nine-member Lokpal, the Cabinet decided to carve out a sub-quota of 4.5 per cent for minorities within the 27 per cent reservation for OBCs. The move comes just ahead of a likely announcement of Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections and imposition of model code of conduct.
