Lokpal bill worse than Aug draft, redo it: Kejriwal to govt

RTI activist and key aide of Anna Hazare Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday said the Lokpal Bill was a step backwards from the government's draft of August, keeping not only the Lokpal weak but ensuring the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI)was favourable to the political dispensation. "It is worse than the Lokpal Bill introduced in August. We reject the (new) bill: withdraw it and introduce it after redrafting it," Kejriwal said. He added that the Lokpal would be under the government's thumb as its panel will be selected by a committee dominated by political leaders. He also alleged this bill would make CBI "completely ineffective".
