Chidambaram and BJP: the end of an affair
All through the current session of Parliament, Home Minister P. Chidambaram has been the focus of the Bharatiya Janata Party's unrelenting target practice: it has been demanding he step down for his alleged involvement in the 2G spectrum allocation scam. For the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government, the BJP's “boycott” of its Home Minister has just increased its problems, especially as it continues to keep the spotlight on a case that has been haunting the government ever since the publication of the Comptroller and Auditor General's report on the subject. On Saturday last, the government was even forced to mount a vigorous defence of Mr. Chidambaram.
