Sliding state of Mamata-dom

The knack of governance, particularly good governance, doesn't come out of experience in whipping up mass frenzy or fighting tough electoral battles. West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee may just be beginning to realise that. Charmingly honest as she is, personally and in intent, Mamata is floundering quite a bit trying to balance her administrative and political compulsions, and to bring about some order in a state that is increasingly becoming chaotic.
