Maya plans Muslim quota to checkmate Congress
With an aim to counter Congress’ Muslim reservation card, the Mayawati Government is seriously contemplating introduction of a separate quota for the religious minority before the State Assembly elections. Senior officials in the Department of Law are studying the reservation model of south Indian States of Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala and Tamil Nadu, where the religious minority have been given separate quota in Government jobs as well as State-run educational institutions.
