The Union government has only itself to blame for first precipitating the FDI crisis and later beating a hasty retreat, says constitutional expert Subhash C. Kashyap. Dr Kashyap is a former secretary-general of the Lok Sabha. He is currently an honorary research professor at the Centre for Policy Research here. “One could blame the Opposition for the methods it has employed, but it is the Union government, which has been caught on the wrong foot, that is largely responsible [for the impasse],” he told this newspaper on Monday.
