Pranab fails to break FDI logjam

Parliament is likely to remain stalled with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh ruling out a rollback of the decision to allow 51% foreign direct investment in multi-brand retail as also an adjournment motion censuring the government or suggesting a policy review. Finance minister Pranab Mukherjee's conveyed the government's position to BJP senior leader L K Advani on Wednesday evening when he explored avenues for a breakthrough in the logjam in Parliament that has now stretched into its eighth day with prospects of a resolution looking dim.
