Kishanji encounter splits Left

Raising doubts over the killing of Maoist leader Kotteswar Rao alia Kishanji, CPI leader Gurudas Dasgupta on Friday wrote to home minister P Chidambaram, alleging that the encounter was fake and needs to be probed.However, CPM leader Sitaram Yechury distanced himself from Dasgupta's claim and said he has no such information. "It is for security forces to explain," he said. Yechury said Kishanji's death is a step forward. "If this is the policy to curb Maoists it is very good that the state government is carrying forward the policy of the earlier government," he said.
