Team Anna may propose constitutional changes

Team Anna is likely to demand constitutional amendments to widen Lokpal's powers to include conduct of MPs in Parliament - a highly contentious issue -- and do away with sanction for prosecution required for bureaucrats when it meets a parliamentary panel examining the proposed law on Thursday. The Anna Hazare group's demands come at a time when the government is pressing to making Lokpal a constitutional authority and in the background of government having previously turned down both the suggestions on the ground that the Constitution could not be drastically altered.
