Bridging the trust deficit in Darjeeling

Mamata Banerjee is in a hurry. She made that clear on May 20, the day she was sworn in as West Bengal chief minister. When names of only two of her Cabinet colleagues were announced, industry minister Partha Chatterjee and finance minister Amit Mitra, the chief minister said the state government had decided to return 400 acres of Singur land to unwilling farmers.
