Gujarat polls semis before 2014 showdown

Elections in Gujarat are seen as a semi-final to the next parliamentary polls scheduled in 2014 - a power struggle which will not just decide who rules Gujarat for the next five years but also throw up a clear challenger to lead the country in what is largely seen as a Narendra Modi versus Rahul Gandhi fight. Of course, such a battle will materialize only if Modi secures a thumping win. The spotlight is on Narendra Modi, Gujarat's longest serving chief minister who is fast emerging as the BJP's prime ministerial candidate.
