Copyright regime: A discordant argument

In his article, ‘The day the music died’ (Business Line, December 2), intellectual property expert Ananth Padmanabhan -- who represented the South Indian Music Companies Association (SIMCA) before the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) on Copyright Bill Amendments --- vented his feelings against these amendments. He claims these “punish producers to award lyricists and composers” (we’ll call them authors), but “will finish off one and all”.
