Stemming the rot

The Supreme Court must be held in justified admiration for its Wednesday ruling that MPs and MLAs would face immediate disqualification from holding membership in Parliament and the legislatures if convicted in criminal cases. This landmark decision is a step forward in cleansing Indian politics of criminal malcontents who, because of a combination of muscle and money power, have forced their way into the hallowed portals of our legislatures.
