India's ambassador to the United States, Nirupama Rao, has been busy lately urging think tank and university audiences to see India in a good light and to support strong Indo-US relations. She's doing her best but it's a hard task these days. I think it's time we accepted a growing reality: India's image, after a bracing spell of basking in the global sun as an emerging power, has taken several knocks.
